Thank you for coming with us during the 2022 EULAR Congress

This will be your go to page for the information you need to "Go With Us". Please bookmark it, save it to your favorites, so that you can find and reference it as needed!

Contact Information: katie@aiarthritis.org | (313) 312-4071 (cell and What'sApp)

Katie will be your point of contact! And she will be providing you updates in the way that you choose - email, text, WhatsApp - and if you'd like to change that, just let her know!

This is the information page just for those of you are are "Going With Us!" using  your very own pass to attend the conference.

You should have received an email confirming your registration. If you did not, please look in your spam folder. We used the same email address you gave us when you signed up. There is more information below with a direct link to log in (which you can do on your computer or phone) and there is also an app you can download (search EULAR 2022).  Keep in mind the conference is happening in Denmark time, which means if you are located elsewhere in the world it's likely you won't be watching anything "live". It also MAY mean that sessions on Wednesday might not be available until Thursday. However, most of the abstracts should be pre-recorded. These are 5 minute presentations about research.

BY THE TIME WE DO THIS 'GO WITH US' AGAIN (WHICH WILL BE TO THE ACR IN NOVEMBER), WE WILL HAVE A PRIVATE ONLINE SPACE FOR ALL OF YOU TO INTERACT, AND EVEN SCHEDULE TIMES TO WATCH SESSIONS TOGETHER! BUT UNTIL THEN... WE SET UP THIS PRIVATE FACEBOOK GROUP JUST FOR THE 21 PEOPLE WITH PASSES TO THE CONFERENCE. PLEASE JOIN IF YOU HAVE FACEBOOK AND ARE INTERESTED IN COMMUNICATING WITH OTHERS ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE ATTENDING!

About EULAR

The European Alliance of Associations for Rheumatology, EULAR, is the organization which represents the people with arthritis/rheumatism, health professionals in rheumatology (HPR) and scientific societies of rheumatology of all the European nations.  The annual EULAR Congress is one of two major rheumatology research conferences in the world. The other is hosted by the American College of Rheumatology (ACR). AiArthritis attends both.

The biggest difference between the ACR and EULAR is the way they are designed. ACR has two arms of membership: Rheumatologists/Researchers and then other health professionals. Nonprofit Patient Organizations, like AiArthritis, are members under that second category. At EULAR, there are THREE pillars: Rheumatologists/Researchers, other health professionals, AND Patient Organizations/Patients.  So there's even a PATIENT TRACK, called PARE, at this conference!

How to Log In and Choose Your Sessions

YOU SHOULD RECEIVE AN EMAIL FROM EULAR BY MONDAY, MAY 30TH, WITH LOG IN INFORMATION. WHEN YOU DO.... Click Here to Log In!!! Then select what sessions and abstracts/posters you'd like to see. Keep in mind these are live Denmark time (CEST). So some sessions that happen on Wednesday may not be available to view until Thursday!

  • CLICK HERE SEE WHICH SESSIONS OUR IN PERSON AIARTHRITIS TEAM WILL BE ATTENDING.  This will help you because you can see what we are attending. Then you could attend some of the same, and meet with us to discuss!  OR, you could attend some that we cannot get to in person, and even help us by taking notes and telling us what you learned. However, keep in mind that other than EULAR PARE sessions, which are designed for patients, many of these will be scientific and may be hard to understand. That's what we are here for!  Take notes and write down questions that you'd like us to help explain better.

ADDED SINCE THE VIDEO WAS MADE! TALK TO EACH OTHER ABOUT SESSIONS IN THE PRIVATE FACEBOOK GROUP JUST FOR THOSE GOING WITH US!

Other Resources and Ways You Can "Go With Us!"

Check out the glossary of terms (and OPTIONAL) help add to it!

CLICK HERE TO VIEW AND ADD TO the AiArthritis' Glossary of Terms: This is a work in progress! We are keeping track of the terms we need to look up, or that we aren't familiar with. If you come across a word or phrase that you think either should be added OR you simply do not know what it means, you can add it to the list! (See video for directions how to do this.)

Please note - if you are unfamiliar with Google Drive (where this document is located), any thing changed, added, or removed saves in real time. So if you aren't sure or are worried about accidentally deleting information, simply keep a list of words or phrases and send them to Katie. Then we will add them for you!

These resources should help provide some background information and guidance to get the most out of the EULAR Congress.

Another great resource for terminology help:

  • Acronym's in rheumatology: This tool will help you understand the various acronyms that you may see during the conference, there will be a lot!

Congress News - Updated as we get them- These are the daily newsletters published by EULAR filled with recaps and great information!

Participation Etiquette

Etiquette - These conferences are designed to educate people about the latest research in rheumatology. So many different types of people attend EULAR, but they are all expected to be on their best professional behavior.

  • Ask questions in the chat if you think the question is relevant to a bigger community.  They should be directed towards the presenters should be directly related to the topic/presentation. Questions should not be submitted that are to get personal medical advice. Keep in mind that the Q&A are live, so this may not be relevant if you cannot be in the session in real time due to the time difference/flares/or life in general.
  • As an affiliate of AiArthritis, we ask that you be respectful and kind.  Even if your opinions differ from others (for example in sessions that relate to COVID), we ask that any persons 'going with us' refrain from argumentative or opinion driven comments.

About the Session Types

When you view the Scientific Programme, you'll see that there are many different session types. We wanted to share with you some insight and pointers about a few of them:

  • Basic and Translational Science - We highly recommend that you skip these sessions. They are incredibly scientific, they do not use plain language (at all), so the content is rather difficult to comprehend.

  • EMEUNET Presents - These sessions are intended as professional development opportunities for young rheumatologists. So the content in these session aren't usually relevant to us.

  • PARE - Which stands for "People with Arthritis / Rheumatism across Europe", these we do recommend! They are intended to be very patient friendly.

  • EULAR Debate - The topics chosen for these sessions are always taken from current trends in rheumatology and the discussions are lively and interesting!

  • From Bench to Bedside - These sessions explore how physicians can take research (bench) and apply them in a clinical setting (bedside) for the benefit of the patient. These can be a fascinating glimpse into the future of your own care.
